Gift yourself the time to tune in to your inner environment in a relaxed and accepting manner.

Mindfulness is the ability to be fully present with one’s current experience objectively, without preference, and with compassion and acceptance.

There are many meditation techniques that allow the mind to calm, offering a point of focus for the mind on which to keep one’s attention. Bit by bit, the mind acquires the ability to remain stable. A sense of space is created. True meditation is experienced in these spaces where one rests from the seemingly ceaseless chatter of thoughts and mind activity. With time and practice, the practitioner experiences a deeper connection, both within on’es internal environment as well as externally.

The benefits of mindfulness practice as well as meditation techniques include stress relief, emotional stability and a deeper connection to oneself… In the words of Swami Rama, “Meditation does what nothing else can do. It introduces you to your Self.”

Guided meditation and/or mindfulness classes are available at a venue of your choice. Corporate sessions on request. All welcome, no previous experience required. Contact Fran for further information.

What is Mindfulness?

In its simplest form, mindfulness means awareness. Practicing mindfulness offers a way to pay attention to the present moment, without judgment. Mindfulness can help to reduce stress, anxiety and conflict, as well as increasing resilience, emotional intelligence and effective communication.

Mindfulness impacts positively on overall human functioning and well-being. Research in such disciplines as psychology, neuroscience and medicine provide a wealth of evidence that mindfulness improves attention, cognition, emotions, behavior and physiology.

Specifically, mindfulness has been shown to improve three qualities of attention: stability, control and efficiency. Research has revealed that the human mind is estimated to wander roughly half of our waking hours, but mindfulness can stabilise attention in the present. Individuals who completed mindfulness training showed results to remain vigilant longer on both visual and listening tasks.

Although mindfulness is an individual quality, initial evidence suggests that it affects interpersonal behavior and workgroup relationships. Mindfulness therefore improves relationships through greater empathy and compassion, suggesting mindfulness training could enhance workplace processes that rely on effective leadership and teamwork.

Mindfulness is a valuable management tool that can lift an entire workplace. A new comprehensive analysis of mindfulness research stated in Science Daily suggests that injecting a corporate culture of mindfulness not only improves focus, but the ability to manage stress and how employees work together.

Mindfulness courses and training can be arranged and customised to suit your individual needs, small group, or a corporate environment. Contact Fran for further information.
